About the Chamber

The Tuskegee Area Chamber of Commerce is a voluntary organization of business and professional men and women who have joined together for the purpose of promoting the civic, commercial and industrial progress of our community.

The area's economic well-being is directly related to the caliber of work that is done by the Chamber. That is why the Tuskegee Area Chamber has major impact on business, income and future growth of the area.

There are two primary functions of a chamber of commerce: (1) it acts as spokesperson for the business and professional community and translates into action the group thinking of its members, and (2) it renders specific services of a type that can be most effectively rendered by a community organization both to its members and to the community as a whole.

Operations
Board of Directors - The Board of Directors is the policy making body of the Tuskegee-Macon County Area Chamber of Commerce. Its members represent the business and professional leadership of the community. The Board consists of current and past officers who serve in advisory role by virtue of their office and stature. Ex-Officio Board members includes the Mayors of the four municipalities within Macon County, (Franklin, Notasulga, Shorter and Tuskegee), the Chairman of the Macon County Commission and the President of Tuskegee University.

How It is Financed The Tuskegee Area Chamber of Commerce is primarily financed by the investment of its members. The maintenance of an adequate level of support from all business and professional interests in the community is essential to finance the programs that are vital to community growth and development.
